The current date in the Gregorian calendar is Friday, May 23, 2025.

In the Coptic calendar, today is 15 Pashons, 1741 A.M. (Anno Martyrum — Year of the Martyrs).

Commemorations for 15 Pashons:

The Church commemorates:

• The Martyrdom of St. Simon Zealot: One of the twelve apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. He preached the Gospel in many regions and received the crown of martyrdom.
• St. Mina (Menas) the Deacon: The martyrdom of St. Mina the Deacon of the church of Alexandria.

Because we are currently in the Holy Fifty Days, the period following the Resurrection of our Lord, the Church is in a season of joy. During these fifty days, there is no fasting on Wednesdays or Fridays, and the liturgical rites are prayed in the Joyful Tune.
